The OPT Career Advisor plays a critical role in preparing consultants and international students for successful careers in the US job market — providing one-on-one career coaching, resume marketing, LinkedIn branding, interview preparation, and continuous career support.
Key Responsibilities
- Career Coaching: Conduct one-on-one counseling for OPT, CPT, STEM OPT, H-1B, and Green Card consultants; build personalized career development plans aligned with market demand.
- Resume Marketing & ATS Optimization: Create and tailor ATS-friendly resumes highlighting technical projects, certifications, and achievements.
- LinkedIn & Personal Branding: Optimize profiles for recruiter visibility, craft compelling headlines and summaries, and guide candidates on networking.
- AI-Powered Career Support: Use ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Jobscan, Resume Worded, and Grammarly to improve resumes, ATS scores, and cover letters.
- Interview Preparation: Run mock HR, technical, client, and behavioral interviews; coach on the STAR technique and confidence building.
- Job Search Strategy: Guide candidates on strategic applications, tailored resumes, cover letters, and recruiter networking.
- Consultant Engagement: Maintain regular communication, weekly progress reviews, and long-term relationships with assigned consultants.
- Workshops & Training: Plan and deliver sessions on resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, interview skills, and US workplace culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, English, Communications, Psychology, or a related field
- 2–6 years of experience in Career Counseling, Resume Marketing, US Staffing, or Talent Development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of US recruitment practices and ATS systems
- Experience coaching candidates for interviews and career growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with international students or OPT candidates
- Knowledge of LinkedIn Recruiter and ATS platforms
- Familiarity with AI-powered resume optimization tools
- Certifications in Career Coaching or Talent Development
